BOYNE PURCHASES CYPRESS MOUNTAIN

February 28 , 2001

Crystal Mountain, WA - Boyne USA Resorts, a family owned operator of mountain recreation areas, today added its first international area to its portfolio with the announcement that it has purchased Cypress Mountain, the largest day skier area in British Columbia. Closing of the transaction occurred February 20, 2001.

"Cypress was seeking an investor for some time to fund their recently approved Master Development Plan, and we have just the experience and capital to get the job done," said John Kircher, head of Western Resort Operations for Boyne. "Cypress is a beautiful area with breathtaking views and excellent winter and summer potential just 25 minutes from a major metropolitan area. This is the perfect combination for applying Boyne's proven expertise in creating mountain recreation areas."

Cypress Mountain, in business since the 70's, is located just 25 minutes from downtown Vancouver amidst the 9,000 acres of Cypress Provincial Park. The property includes 1,750 vertical feet of ski & snowboarding terrain, 16kms of groomed cross-country skiing trails, a snowshoe touring area, and a snowtubing park. Operating assets to be acquired also include a full service cafeteria, Growlies Bar & Grill, Hollyburn Lodge, and Major Mountain Sports retail and rental outlets located in West Vancouver and Cypress Mountain.

"There is considerable potential with the approved Master Development Plan (MDP) to provide state of the art facilities to Vancouver skiers & snowboarders. The MDP addresses upgrades in chair lift service, replaces temporary structures with beautiful lodges and adds a mountain top facility that will attract visitors year round," Kircher added.

Boyne Resorts is a leading operator of ski areas across North America. The company owns resorts at Big Sky in Montana, Brighton in Utah (Salt Lake City), Crystal Mountain in Washington (Seattle), and Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands in Michigan. This season Boyne expects to log 1.9 million skiers to its resort onglomerate.
