Boyne USA Resorts Joins Forces With Marriott International, Inc.

December 12 , 2003

Boyne Falls, Mich. - Boyne USA Resorts has entered an agreement with Marriott International, Inc. to flag The Inn at Bay Harbor as a Renaissance Resort. Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, a full-service division of Marriott International, Inc. boasts a portfolio of 125 properties worldwide. The Inn at Bay Harbor is the first among this portfolio located in the state of Michigan. Additionally, The Inn at Bay Harbor is currently the only resort operation in the Midwest for all Marriott brands.

Recently named among the world's top golf resorts by Conde Nast Traveler and Celebrated Living magazines, The Inn continues to be recognized for sophisticated design, professional and welcoming service, and warm and inviting restaurants serving creative food with traditional flavors - that which the Renaissance Resort guest has come to expect. The coming winter season will again attract snowsports enthusiasts seeking luxurious accommodations and amenities such as The Spa at The Inn at Bay Harbor, winner of a 2003 Readers' Choice Award from Spa Finder magazine.

Located at 3600 Village Harbor Drive near Petoskey, Mich., the Victorian-inspired inn offers lodging with all the luxuries of home. Guests can choose from 85 one-, two- and three-bedroom suites with an assortment of floor plans, or 24 two- and three-bedroom Lakeside Cottages. Most guest rooms feature a kitchen, fireplace, and balcony to provide added convenience and comfort for travelers. The resort is among Michigan's most popular golf and ski destinations and offers spectacular views of Lake Michigan, unique dining venues and meeting facilities for groups of up to 250 people.

The Inn at Bay Harbor will officially open as a Renaissance Resort on December 12, 2003 after the flagging process is completed. The name will remain The Inn at Bay Harbor with "a Renaissance Resort" as a descriptor. "Becoming the first resort in the Midwest associated with arguably, the finest hotel company in the world, will expose our facilities to thousands of new customers and allow us to take 'resorting in northern Michigan' to a new level. The region is maturing as a destination and this alignment is a logical outgrowth of this process. The Renaissance brand allows us to maintain the essence of our individuality that people expect when they come to our area, while increasing our national and regional draw," says Stephen Kircher President of Boyne's Eastern Operations. "This relationship allows The Inn at Bay Harbor to maintain the current Boyne relationship such as access to our four season amenities, central reservations system, and cooperative marketing efforts and bolt on the benefits that Marriott brings to the relationship. This alignment will produce opportunities such as worldwide recognition, increased exposure through their reservation system and the global distribution system, group sales support, training systems and better access to personnel and capital in the coming years. We believe that there is a great cultural fit between the two organizations and are proud to be affiliated."

"We're excited about the brand's growth and direction with this addition," said Jurgen Giesbert, senior vice president, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts. "The Inn at Bay Harbor is an excellent reflection of what Renaissance embodies - style, attentive and respectful service, imaginative food - a sophisticated and enjoyable guest experience."
