Boyne Resorts Partners with Snow Angel Foundation on Slope Safety
A commitment to advancing slope safety across the skiing and snowboarding community
August 21, 2025 – Boyne Resorts announced today that it has partnered with the Snow Angel Foundation, becoming the first ski resort operator to form a company-wide partnership with the foundation.
Boyne Resorts will host collision safety training sessions, facilitated by the Snow Angel Foundation, at each of the company's ski resorts this winter, with opportunities to include the local community, schools, ski and race teams. Snow Angel signage will also be displayed across all resorts as a part of a comprehensive ski safety messaging initiative.
The Snow Angel Foundation was established in 2023 by co-founders Chauncy and Kelli Johnson, following a tragic Christmas Eve collision in 2010 that claimed the life of their 5-year-old daughter Elise and left Kelli with life-altering injuries. The collision occurred when a snowboarder traveling approximately 50 mph struck Kelli and Elise, resulting in fatalities for both Elise and the snowboarder.
From this devastating experience, the Johnsons channeled their grief into action. In 2016, they partnered with the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) to launch the "Ride Another Day" safety campaign alongside trainings hosted nationwide to increase collision awareness and prevention.
"The Snow Angel Foundation's message extends far beyond the slopes," said Jason Perl, general manager of Boyne Mountain and Snow Angel Foundation board member. "Their philosophy about safety awareness – whether skiing, driving, biking, or simply existing alongside others in our daily lives – aligns perfectly with how we approach operations. Supporting the Snow Angel Foundation allows them to continue sharing this important safety philosophy across all of our mountain communities."
"Our mission is to prevent ski and snowboard collisions through education and awareness so that everyone can Ride Another Day," said Chauncy Johnson, founder and executive director of the Snow Angel Foundation. "Safer slopes protect lives, and partnerships like this with Boyne Resorts help us reach more people with this critical safety message."
